OUR SERVICES
"A child’s play is his talk, and the toys are his words" – (Ginott, 1961)
Children
Our child therapy service is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to express themselves and begin their healing process. We understand that children may struggle to communicate their thoughts and feelings through traditional talk therapy methods, which is why we utilize art, play, and animal therapy to help them open up and process their experiences.
Our team of licensed therapists are trained in various modalities of play therapy, and work with children to develop a trusting relationship that encourages exploration and self-expression. Through the use of toys, games, and art materials, children are able to express themselves in a way that feels natural and non-threatening.
We specialize in helping children who are struggling with a variety of issues, including behavior struggles with school, trauma, grief & loss, anxiety, anger, separation & divorce, adoption, abuse, and ADHD. Our approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, and we work closely with parents and caregivers to develop a treatment plan that supports their child's healing and growth.
Tweens/Teens
Our therapy service for tweens and teens is designed to support young people as they navigate the challenges of junior high and high school. As a licensed therapist, I have experience working with tweens and teens and understand the unique challenges they face during this time.
I work with your teen to develop a positive working relationship that fosters trust and communication. By utilizing play, music, art, digital media, and animal therapy, I help your teen explore their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels natural and engaging.
Anxiety is a common issue, and I provide strategies for managing stress and building resilience. I help your teen navigate social dynamics, including peer relationships, romantic relationships, and family relationships. I also support teens in developing the skills they need to manage advanced academics and prepare for college or other post-secondary paths. I believe that every young person has the potential to thrive during this challenging time. By providing a safe and supportive environment for exploration and growth, I help tweens and teens develop the skills they need to navigate the challenges of adolescence and move towards a successful and fulfilling young adulthood.
Family
Family therapy is a key ingredient to help families heal and learn to enjoy each other again. Family therapy recognizes that family dynamics and relationships can impact individuals and their overall well-being. It provides an opportunity for all family members to have a safe and non-judgmental space to communicate and work through issues together.
As a trained therapist, I work with families to identify patterns of behavior and communication that may be causing conflict or distress. I help families learn effective communication skills, build stronger relationships, and develop strategies for resolving conflicts and managing stress.
Parents play a vital role in helping children and teens improve behaviors and cope with emotions. Our family therapy sessions provide an opportunity for parents to learn more effective parenting skills and ways of interacting with their children and teens. I am trained in the Nurtured Heart Approach, developed by Howard Glasser, which is an innovative parenting approach that focuses on transforming intense children.
Through family therapy, parents can experiment with changes in a comfortable and controlled environment, providing a safe space for the family to explore and try out new ways of relating to one another. By working together, families can strengthen their bonds, improve communication, and learn to support one another in a positive and healthy way.
